  • 10 Most Important Aircraft in Irish History

an interesting article on Hushkit https://hushkit.net/2022/02/17/10-mo...irish-history/

The inclusion of Shorts Bros aircraft is nonsense, as they originated in Northern Ireland, under British control and had no tangible effect on the State. The Shorts 360 was used by Aer Lingus and Aer Arran for some time but that's about it. The Boeing 737, in the hands of Aer Lingus, Ryanair and others has had a much greater effect. The Chipmunk trainer probably generated more pilots for the State airline and others than any other trainer, with the exception of the Morane Saulnier Rallye. 2.5 propellors out of 10 for this effort.

The throwaway fighter jet comment ruined it for me.
For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

That Shorts SC-1 prototype is in the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum at Cultra, between Belfast and Bangor.
