Nice link here that shows the Irish have been involved in a lot of fights around the world not neccessarily under the tricolour.
Especially like the South African Irish Regiment.

And just look what the Bastards did to our guitar!!!!!!!!!!
On a more serious note
when a flechett round and 2 solid shot hit the post.
Flicky how many of our Irish papers carried that story of the deliberate attempt by the DFF to kill many irish troops, I bet you not one
Yet an ex soldier or a soldier does something wrong and every paper goes out of the way to cover it
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Chuck him out, the brute!"
But it's "Saviour of 'is country," when the guns begin to shoot;
An' it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' anything you please;
But Tommy ain't a bloomin' fool - you bet that Tommy sees!Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere***
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
