  • Good shops for military kit

Online or otherwise, where do you get your kit when you have to buy it?

rvops is pretty good, anywhere else recommended?
I knew a simple soldier boy.....
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.

In winter trenches, cowed and glum,
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
And no one spoke of him again.

You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

      I see nobody favours Silvermans?
'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
'Unselfishly so we might have today!'
      Like hell! He fought because he had to fight;
He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.

They're renowned for being extortionately priced.

Aye, I remember, they had a flashy catalogue and Gucci kit was always that little further out of reach because of their costs. The War and Peace show was the place to go to pick up Gucci wares.

This place is good and the owner is a gent to deal with.

"Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.

Not mil specific, but you can pick up some Gems in Lidl / Aldi (ie. Secateurs, hands saws etc) I keep signed up to their newsletters so you can see in advance whats on offer. Also the likes of Deals, the one in newbridge is forever churning out bargains on the likes of survival blankets.

+1 for RVOPS a pleasure to deal with they also do decent video reviews on some of their kit.
"Many a time a man's mouth broke his nose"

"Don't waste money buying expensive binoculars. Simply stand next to the object you wish to view."

Anything I have bought from Deals hasn't lasted more than 2 minutes from when I started using it. Literally!
Just as well I tried it at home instead of out on the ground.

You know the saying "buy once, cry once" or however it goes...
