RE: Lightweight operational (barracks) boot... per Apod, it's gonna be Haix Black Eagle - colour TBC. But I wonder is it finalised it's gonna be a MID height version (per links I posted previously)?
Just that I've spotted that the HIGH version (similar height to existing bks boot) is up on the Brix Workwear site
Very smart looking boot in fairness, but again, practicalities of the colour...
"Well, stone me! We've had cocaine, bribery and Arsenal scoring two goals at home. But just when you thought there were truly no surprises left in football, Vinnie Jones turns out to be an international player!" (Jimmy Greaves)!"
The side walls on both my issue Haix Tibets are giving way. Also noted that the sole is starting to detach on one of them. To be fair, I've had them since 2009. Obviously not as much usage as our footslogger bretheren, but still.
1. Can they be resoled or not?
2. If not, would the Q staff blitz off the last of the stock with a replacement pair? Am quite fond of these boots, well broken in, comfy to wear (except in the current heat!)

Why bother? In another few months black boots will start to die out with the advent of the new Brown Barracks boots. Unless you fit the (very restrictive) criteria for issue of Operational boots to RDF then you probably wont be eligible to get a new pair and even if you did the chances are they would be the newer scouts as stocks of the older boots are nearly depleted. Even PDF Recruits are being issued them now.
Brown is the new black. Plenty of good alternatives to the old Haix OPS boots on the commercial market these days. Also AFAIK the New Bks Boot will be Goretex lined.
"Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.
I did do a Google and I did see that website, but was unsure whether they just replace the tread of the boot, or the Vibram upper (spongy part) also?

Well? We are now in October.... how are the issues of the Haix Scout going? Also, any more solid rumours RE: lightweight operational (bks) boot?

Bulk rollout of the Scouts finished months ago.
New Light Op Boots (Haix Black Eagle, Coyote brown) being delivered to OCES with rollout due to commence soon.
The new Light op/Bks boot will be rolled out as a bulk issue along with the new Belt/Subdued Flashes/gloves and Ballistic glasses AFAIK.

Yup. I have only seen pictures so far though. Be Interesting to see if the 119BN UNIFIL will be wearing them for the March past next week. Overseas units were supposed to get first issues.

FWT replacements or everyone gets a pair immediately ?
Bulk Issue (Initial Issue) to PDF Units starting with Units deploying overseas(I think EUTM Mali has them already as did the ECAT Mission to KIA recently).
Issues to AR once all PDF units issued. Same deal as the new Operational boots.
I would imagine they "should " do bulk issue to AR Units/Sub-Units in the same manner to avoid mixed dress but tenner on the bet they do FWT. We have AR Recruits getting their kit tomorrow. Be Interesting to see what they get. Magnums is my bet though.
Oh and BTW. A9 will still need amending to allow their wear. Black Boots are still authorised for Land Component Troops where they have not been issued Brown to date . IE AR pers. Once that changes ,if the amendment doesn't remove permission to wear Black boots simultaneously ,then if an AR Recruit is issued Brown Boots as Initial issue then his/her/It's C.O.C will just have to lump it and accept mixed dress until all other members of the unit catch up.

That leads me to believe that they will go the FWT route for issuing the AR the Brown Barrack Boot and they will continue to issue what left of the black magnums to the AR and PDF recruits 'till stocks are exhausted. No way they are going to issue AR recruits Black Mangnums and then a week or two later issue them Brown Haix Barrack Boots. No value for money there.
Having said that the same was supposed to happen with the Black Haix for PDF Recruits and Cadets. Our Recruits got Brown Haix from day one.

So in the infinite wisdom of the DF we now essentially have two pairs of warm weather / summer boots and nothing suited to winter be it at home or overseas, what an absolute cluster.
