Quick question,
Just after seeing an old photo, 80s/90s in which three army personal are wearing black berets with blue flashes behind the cap badge, can anyone shed some light on this?
Edit:...
What's the craic with the scale of issue? One or two pairs? Currently wearing mine overseas and I can't see how you could possibly keep a pair parade ready, even with only light barracks use.
Something the DF could definitely have bought into, given our involvement with the Nordic battlegroup
Never been issued "operational" trousers in my whole career.... Poxy winter bottoms every time, even on a summer trip to the leb   probably never see those either
No idea, but I'd hoped they would opt for something more neutral colour wise, seems like a very dark, rich green
So what do we call it? I've always just referred to any modular tactical vest that held plates as a plate carrier 😂 I mean isn't the point that you can can set them up how you like (are told) soft...
Pretty sure some do and some don't? Depends on the design? Then again I'm not 100% certain of my terminology.
Would be a welcome upgrade from the flacker bv combo ðŸ‘
Anyone have any info on the current plate carrier Trials that seem to be on going 😊😊😊

Well I'm not exactly big into the ceremonial stuff, and no one I know has ever been instructed on the matter. So when I don't know the answer to something I ask.
Get over your self.
Cheers mate :-D:-D:-D Thought you meant on the Intranet.... silly me.
Left on the far side of the country following an officers instructions :-D:-D:-D Ain't that some irony.
Thanks a mill...
Well given the berets on far side of the country not much I can do, But I know from experience the head dress is not worn during the interview so it wont matter, Just dont want to get bounced off...
No its definitely green belt... ie No2's ... Im PDF and I was told to wear peaker by my Lt. But yeah would be just be ribbons with that then? And can someone tell me which should go on which side....
Need to be pointed in the right direction by anyone who knows there stuff on dress regs.
Sitting cadet interview in my No1's next week and I dont know if I should have medals or ribbons on my tunic....
So your saying the 2010 onwards gear blends perfectly with the Irish environment??? I does in its ****... might blend into a bog thats about it. The older dpm gear that had much lighter greens and a...
Well yeah thats true for the most part, with the exception of Chad where there was plenty of occasions when they went full DPM.
But yeah the current DPM is litterally useless except for parades.
It does seem to work well for the lads on the far side of the blue line. Regardless of DPM or OG ... the current DPM on issue is way too dark even in Ireland its rubish.
Even if they had darker OD...
My argument against DPM was not that it was ineffective. But value you for money, what can this organisation afford? Ie. would we get better kit if it wasnt produced in DPM ... thats my question......
If any of you watch nuthinfancy on youtube... its basicaly his argument on firepower vs mobility (in this case protection vs mobility)
Well far as I know some plate carriers have too smaller side...
I suppose in this organisation they are more concerned with your protection than your ability to fight. There must be a version of CBA that allows superior freedom of movement though.
But also...
Would it be feasible say to replace our assault vests with a molle plate carrier? Using the plates from the current CBA? Which as I understand are pretty good.
Ugh I love how ye have be "in the know" to get issued anything out of the ordinary.... Probably doesn't help we don't have a clothing stores in our barracks and our Q is shite. The only reason were...
Napp have you ever worn or used our gear?
And yeah our old seyntex dpm was actually really good and even if you look at pics of chad once it got a bit used it didnt stand out too much.... this new...
But in a time when cost cutting and value for money is everything... off the shelf kit from camelback, bulldog or whoever makes decent kit would be better than the sub standard kit we are issued at...
