Oh for a sarcasm highlight button:biggrin::biggrin:
US Marines or Army (can't recall which) specified similar looking DMR weapon and fire controls for exactly these reasons in their most recent tender.
Having such a distinctive looking weapon as...
As Apod said, microfleece inner. Not fur pile like the buffalo, which goes on /off much smoother than the fleece.
Buffalo is supposed to be worn next to skin, perfect if is all you are wearing for...
Picked one of these up just before Christmas and have been using extensively over last month or so. Lots of walking the dog and a bit of pre-lockdown hill work in all the cold, windy wet and...
Some but probably not a massive amount. They don't necessarily have same requirements so won't necessarily be looking for same type of things. ARW using SIG pistols for years but HK won contract for...
Not the same thing at all!
So it was a real life hover tank then...:-D:tongue:
All of which could be achieved from Dublin with negligible extra flight time (minutes). A similar secure military site for a rotary detachment, like IRCG heli base, and make use of existing ATC, fire...
A tan coloured carrier worn by some of the troops present also!
Nice soft shell looking jacket worn by one of the snipers. At the risk of getting into "blood diamond pants" territory private...
Move it all to Shannon.......sell off Baldonnel. Ensure the Don goes for full market value with proceeds ring fenced for new airbase, other defence infrastructure and equipment projects and...
Check out recent DF Flickr pages then Apod.
Lots of interesting pieces of kit on the YO course photos (admittedly probably not all issued) including at least two types of plate carrier.
I'm not ruling out towed artillery, however, I am saying we need to modernise the corps ability and efficiency in combined arms manoeuvring. Perhaps a sub unit of artillery should be mechanised...
You're not going to let go of towing artillary, are you??:-D:-D
Maybe we should multi-task the horsey school to help out!!
Dev,
This is my main reason for the suggestion that SPG is required. Every overseas mission with the exception of UNIFIL and East Timor recently has involved significant amounts of armoured...
I've mentioned this many times before, arty need some form of self propelled gun to keep up with rest of combat and combat support arms if we are to ever have a truly integrated light infantry /...
Fair point, but it is a cost neutral, no need for extra taxes on the taxpayer way to increase defence spending, carefully advertised to show the investment in equipment and expenses will directly...
That's where we should be funding all overseas missions from in fairness. Leave the Defence budget to purely fund home requirements, infrastructure, etc.
Use overseas aid to cover mission specific...
So begs the obvious question how do they compare to the Piranha 111 (including our upgrade programme)??
:-D:)
Two questions for those that might know:
1. Do personnel attached to ARW (non SOFQ courses qualified) wear unit beret or standard corps beret, e.g. logs pers, medics, etc. Are there permanent...
:biggrin::)
How does one get on this fabled coffee machine course? Is there a badge at the end????
How long were the Israeli style parka's issued for UNIFIL?
Handy and coveted for winter trips but totally impractical for anything but standing in the cold.
We all have our afflictions:-D:biggrin:
Where's our selection process at??
Cheers Apod,
That explains what I was wondering (from various photos of troops in UBACS and shirts on the ground) much better than I actually asked it.
