Have you seen "The Pentagon Wars"?
For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

If they say the range is 250 miles, then that's 200 miles before you start looking for a RESUP. With the inevitable bolt on armour, radios, and roof gunner, your 200 miles soon becomes 150.
The 6.5L diesel and 90L tank are from the original HUMVEE, so unless a customer needs a bigger tank that is what it will stay. There is the tray-extension at the rear which seems to have spaces for 4x20L Jerry cans.

Not really the Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV) is aimed at a particular set of light troops for whom mobility is more important. The ISV can easily be hung under a UH-60, while the only US helicopters able to lift a JLTV are the CH-47 and CH-53. These vehicle are meant more for the airborne and SF units than the regular army. Even the JLTV will not fully replace the HUMVEE, only front line fighting units are going to get it.

It's replacing boots....these are for units that at most had some Humvees to move guys with.

"Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.

Time for a LTAV 3rd attempt thread?!

we should have just got RG32M (the proven Swedish one, not the LTV)

                          or just got AUVs

Didn't ours end up being another uniquely irish version?
Can we not just go off the shelf next time?
                            New thread new vehicle.

The Rangers are using German Eagles in Mali aren’t they? Couldn’t we just try and buy something of complete common spec with other EU nations?
