And so we will have the absurd position that next year when India conducts its next census it will surpass China. IMHO all members of the SC should be selected by the General Assembly, there can be a Veto but it should be capable of being overturned by a 2/3 majority in the General Assembly.
    It might be with this future scenario in mind that China is getting so many developing countries economically dependent on China and it's financial support so that it is pulling their strings without any formal alliance (like Warsaw Pact) that fingers can be pointed at.
    'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
    'Unselfishly so we might have today!'
    Like hell! He fought because he had to fight;
    He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.

      China has one thing on its mind: Trade. It is not really interested in the UN, that is a Western Institution set-up to protects the West (incl Russia) interests in their mind. They have invested heavily in securing their strategic interests. Why go to the UN when you can secure directly what you want?

          All Powers made their presence known by creating a fuss at the UN and by their presence visually on the High Seas and high Latitude Territories. Having got rid of the RN presence and other Naval visitors in Hong Kong, China is creating and taking ownership of the China Seas areas putting pressure and concessionary demands on all the Asian territories including Australia, and New Zealand. The only counters on the table is the visual presence of USN at all hot spots and the Pacific Basin, expansion of the RAN, and the Indian Navy, and increasing capability of surrounding smaller countries. It's all about projection of power and there is a strong shift in favour of China aided not least by their continual investment in all countries in matters of trade, finance, service industries, development of hotels and properties, and a monopolisation of the domestic clothing and essential supply industry. This is aided by individual entrepreneurs hoovering up assets or undertaking developments with Chinese State money.Money seems to be endless, and influence is becoming more visible and we are becoming more dependent--my underpants and Covid mask was made in China.
