  • The Italians are flat out using their military trucks to deliver the dead to crematoria all around Lombardy. Apparently, the funeralhomes are stacking them high to keep up with the need for rapid cremation.

        Needed too. The Scania 8x8 DROPS came into service in either 06 or 08 and the remaining IVECO DROPS which were still in service at that point have since been waddied....

        • Combined with the fact that almost everything travels by DROPS now...
          The DF were ahead of the curve with DROPS.
          I remember seeing the Sliabh na mBan being loaded onto an early version of DROPS in 1985 on a Hino ZM, though they didn't call it DROPS then, it was an Ampli-Roll Low Loader.
          For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

                  • Also there might be some newish Scania Gryphus 8x8 trucks on the market soon, apparently the new Scanias when carrying ISO containers are too tall to go under Dutch Bridges

                      We have a few HX already, but not many. Do we have an armoured HX recovery vehicle?
                      The Scania is a tall truck as it is, making it 4x4 adds greatly to the overall height, Surprised DAF aren't providing a military truck for the Dutch forces any more.
                      For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

                        1x SX45 unarmoured & 1x armoured.
                        Two MAN SX45 8x8 recovery vehicles/wreckers are in service with the Irish Army. One vehicle is equipped with a Modular Armoured Cab (MAC) that protects the t...


                        The SX & HX look a lot alike but have totally different chassis and suspension systems.

                            • Do we curently have any 6x6 recovery? I know there used to be a MAN, and the Iveco recovery were 8x8.

                              Specs required as follows:
                              • 500hp Euro 6
                              • Auto/Semi Auto transmission (with PTO)
                              • RHD with option for LHD
                              • Adjustable suspension
                              • Wading depth 750mm
                              • Fuel capacity 550 to 600l, Lockable tanks with filling possible from either side.
                              • On/Off road tyres (70:30)
                              • Spare wheel and carrier
                              • ISO connector for trailer air brakes fitted front and rear for shunting
                              • LED external lights, with NATO blackout lighting.
                              The recovery bit:
                              • 25t main winch 80m length
                              • Aux winch
                              • 9t Self recovery winch
                              • Rear recovery boom 16T minimum (retracted) 12T (extended). When Towing 5T (retracted) 4t Extended
                              • Independent stabilisers
                              • Lifting adapter for following vehicles:
                                • Scania R420C 6X6
                                • Scania P370B 4X4HZ
                                • Mercedes 117A Troop carrying Vehicle.
                                • Scania Irizar i6s Coach
                                • Scania R500 6x2/2NA
                              • Not a prototype.
                              No mention of spectacle lift.
                              For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.
