  • US Navy vessel docks in Dublin
    Friday, August 31, 2012 - 12:54 PM

The influx of up to 35,000 US visitors for the American football clash between the Navy and Notre Dame have been joined in Dublin by the USS Fort McHenry.

The Navy dock landing ship is in Ireland as part of a scheduled deployment to European countries, having already paid visits to France and Spain.

A lottery organised by the US Embassy for public tours of the ship - which will be moored in Dublin Port for the weekend - has now closed.

                    • What is the Ensign she is flying? I take it to be a blue cross on a white backround. I've never seen that before.

Leaving earlier, with Crosshaven in the background. Fast mover, even within the harbour.
