  • Could this have knock on to RDF recruitment campaign starting in Mar?

    • Delighted to see it. If they were willing to serve this state while sorting out their residency status then why turn them away?
For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

As far as I can see from R5 - no

        There’s no similar requirement

The three judge Court of Appeal said the man “is entitled to seek and enter employment in the same way as an Irish citizen would be” and cannot be discriminated against because of his status as a person entitled to subsidiary protection.

Its judgment on Friday has implications for enlistment but Ms Justice Aileen Donnelly said that The three judge Court of Appeal said the man “is entitled to seek and enter employment in the same way as an Irish citizen would be” and cannot be discriminated against because of his status as a person entitled to subsidiary protection.

Its judgment on Friday has implications for enlistment but Ms Justice Aileen Donnelly said that if the Minister for Defence has a “genuine” concern about people with restricted or limited rights of residence, he may opt to amend the relevant regulations.

The court will decide later what orders it should make in case.

Now in his 20s, the man came here as an unaccompanied minor in 2012. He got subsidiary protection in 2014 and permission to remain until 2017, later extended to June 2020.
It begs the question of the implications of some being legally prevented from fulfilling their contractual obligations should their permission to remain not be extended.

It is positive for the DF to be diverse but if someone could only serve max 3 years of a 5 year contract....But it could have much wider implications for the DF and asylum/subsidiary protection system.

In R5 or the Defence Act

                  • 10,000 posts here and still cranking along

My view at the moment - never seen PDF in such a badly treated state for pay and conditions even in the dog years when I joined in 86 it wasnt this bad just seeing highly qualified people continue to walk out the door

RDF is paradoxically bad numbers but we can see a road back if the recruitment keeps on going pay is terrible and a scandal in its own right tho

promotions at all levels are unblocking slowly as the numbers burn down to establishment ( Civil servants need a kick for years over that one as its caused a massive gap in the middle right now that will take YEARS to rebuild )

Kit and equipment is as good as its ever been and my team and I are working closely on projects that matter so I can't complain about employment - most RDF folks I know both in staff and line are busy out ( those that want to be, of course ) but the new Lt Cols seem to be young and energetic so judge for yourselves.

For me it paints a future toward a specialist Reserve where skills possessed are used.

                    Here's to the next 10,000
"Are they trying to shoot down the other drone? "

"No, they're trying to fly the tank"

24 Cpls promoted to Sgt in 2 Bde in the last couple of weeks. 7 Leading Seamen promoted to PO in the NSR this week.

                        • Why are they not covered on DF social media or was it during covid 19 while training is stopped? By the way great to see them.
