  • Formation Commanders direct through chain of command, as it has always been. Although courses have recommenced across the DF in line with COVID guidance , RDF routine collective training in barracks has not as yet ( in my formation anyway) . Guidance is available from D Res.

"No, they're trying to fly the tank"

No, as long as social distancing is observed, face coverings are worn, temperature checks are done twice daily, sanitisation is done etc there is no need to quarantine.
Working in the Army isn't any different to any other workplace during Covid.
If the Army can continue training and courses then so can the RDF.

Letter specifically says so but in which case why has training been stopped since March

            • RDF Weekly training recommences second week of September. FTT can recommence after the third weekend in October. Both will have strict guidelines attached.
And no. You DON'T quarantine before starting a course etc. You restrict your interactions with large groupings of people beforehand and sign a declaration on reporting for training to say so. This has all been clarified by the JTF and J7. Twice daily temperature checks etc etc.
"Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.

              • So who does temperature checks on training nights, field days and weekend overnight training, is it PDF or RDF medics?

                  A responsible adult

All jokes aside.Nothing laid down as to who does it once it is done. The medics are NOT doing it. It can be done by training/cadre staff etc. Sub -unit Temperature check logbook filled out and retained for checks by unit covid advisor. Facemasks issued for close contact scenarios. Flu vaccine must be given to Cadets/Recruits/ courses going forward.

                  • Flu vaccine compulsory? That’s a good move
'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
'Unselfishly so we might have today!'

He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.

Very difficult to enforce that out of a military environment. Anti vaxxers would be shouting from the roof tops.

Ah but then it wouldn't be fair that the general civil service, guards, DF, etc aren't getting cash per vaccination. Not privatecompanies. Industrial relations disaster. in the making

My (large) employer’s occupational health department pays for and delivers the flu vaccine (voluntarily) on site every year.

At my suggestion, my wife’s employer starting paying for staff to get the flu jab (in own time) last year.

Did you never hear of the terrible curse that afflicts anti-vacxxers?

                                F*ck them
