In the last re-org there were 30 positions created in DFHQ. If you wanted to take up one of those positions you applied during the re-organisation process, you were then asked to provide a CV and assigned to an appropriate branch.
There is a (former?) RTE cameraman who AFAIK is a corporal with the Press Office or DFAVS not sure which
He wouldn't be too happy to hear you've demoted him here...

Air National Guardsmen will have an increasing role in the cyber defense of the nation, top generals told Congress Tuesday.
The demand for the Air Guard to aid in cybersecurity is so high that almost any new units are immediately being assigned to the mission, said Army Gen. Frank Grass, the chief of the National Guard Bureau.
“As soon as we can stand up an Air Guard unit, it’s being used today,” the general told the House Appropriations subcommittee on defense.
Acting ANG Director Maj. Gen. Brian Neal said that by April, the Guard will have set up several dedicated cyber units to aid U.S. Cyber Command, and they will have a “constant presence of Cyber Command contribution.”
He also pointed to Washington state as an example of the Guard leveraging one of its strengths: civilian airmen.
“As you know, there’s a lot of tech companies out there and we have quite a few of those, including multimillionaires, who are guardsmen doing the cyber defense of the nation,” he said.
...It's exactly how the Single Force Concept should work and long may it continue....
i wouldn't want it to continue as it is - the RDF don't get paid for what they do - i don't see how you can run a Single Force Concept when you have the disparity of most soldiers on full pay and some soldiers on no pay!

Ya know what? You're right.
We should continue as it is in most RDF sub units, with a bunch of lads turning up every week doing **** all meaningful.
The situation S&S and I speak of involves Reservists making a positive contribution to the Irish contingent of a multinational Battlegroup and that contribution being highlighted within the DF.
You can poke holes in it if you want, personally I think it's bloody brilliant. If people involved in the DF, both permanent and part time, did it solely for money they'd be very disappointed, very quickly.
