Where are you getting the €100 figure from? ATCA allowance is only €44 if eligible at all before deductions, in reality its about €15.

€15 net for a Sunday duty ??? That's absolutely sh1te, to be fair - and unfortunately, professional soldiers don't have a say in the matter

My company was trying to bring in "on call" on a more widespread basis
Initial interest was piqued among some sections of the work force, until is was disclosed that it would be €24 for a 24 hour on call period
(and I think that was gross)

At that point, the laughs of derision started...
"Well, stone me! We've had cocaine, bribery and Arsenal scoring two goals at home. But just when you thought there were truly no surprises left in football, Vinnie Jones turns out to be an international player!" (Jimmy Greaves)!"

Sounds like a .15 standby rate which is not uncommon, But an actual callout is at an overtime rate.

I'm contracted for .25 standby rate and 1.5 or 2.0 rate for callout depending if the weekend. Minimum callout 2 hours.

SDA is shit, but this is a representative issue. If you gave up 11am 1 hour tea break for a 15 minute one at 10 people may change.

But then again the **** it, it's not my job ethos is alive and well. Much to the dismay of fresh faced LTs out of the curragh who want to change the world but are caught in a burocracy fillabuster and cant wait till the end of their tenure to get into the private sector

        • Who the **** gets a 1 hour tea break at 11am?

More nonsense about working life in the PDF, from people who don't serve in the PDF.

          • Nonsense me back side, alive and well in some locations, your very sensitive for a fella who reckons it doesn't happen.

I've done enough time to see some people's work ethic, I never said I was in the PDF but I have a pair of eyes and the ability to detect when someone is or is not there.

I didn't need a 6 month course for that either

                    I'm not sensitive at all.

You made a broad statement that the working day in the PDF includes an hour long break at 11am.

                    That's a lie.

If it was that on top of a standard days pay it would be acceptable , but alone, I wouldn't get out of bed for it.

1 hour at 1100? Not at this callsign.
