I knew a simple soldier boy.....
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.
In winter trenches, cowed and glum,
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
And no one spoke of him again.
You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

Godwin's Law....
It's like the RDF has been on a slow death march the last few years, escorted by the MA, and DOD at gunpoint; letting attrition and natural selection work its course. And now, with the "Arbeit Macht Frei" gates on the horizon, a glimmer of hope if we can only get beyond the threshold; they're throwing everything at us, making us sprint to the finish in the hope we'll die of exhaustion within the final distance so that they're spared the need to finish the unsavoury job themselves on arrival.

Don't get me wrong here. There is so much work been thrown at us by the PDF it is unreal and there are several incredible opportunities that will come out in the publicity soon if they come off. I wish I was a 3* again sometimes and had these kind of opportunities, and that I had a job that I could take 3 weeks off to do some PDF courses.
Several people I know who have specialities the DF want have been targeted from on-high and assigned to places where "their powers can be used for good". Others have refused said offer. In some cases those assigned to specialist areas have been left to rot too so faults on both sides. Some of them of both types even post here so they can make their own comments.
On that side it's everything 2008 Integration should have been.
But on the simple stuff, regs and logs and recruiting, its like the fking chimpanzees are running the party and there must be a motive somewhere."Are they trying to shoot down the other drone? "
"No, they're trying to fly the tank"

If the regulations defining the organisation are incorrect and out of date what hope do we have!
Originally posted by Buck View PostI see the same. We are getting some savage things in our unit. As much work with the PDF as possible - weapons courses, annual camps, grenades, etc etc
What weapons out of interest?

Well, for example, if the PDF are doing a weapons course, we'll be jumping in for as much as the FTT allocation allows. LFTT is on the cards too for the near future. Just more and more integration.
I understand that some have had bad experiences of the re-org but it's been mostly positive on our end. The one thing that's annoying is that nobody (PDF or RDF) can get a doctor for a medical so the over 40's can't do fitness tests.I knew a simple soldier boy.....

LFTT would be excellent!! (So long as the troops are compotent in the basic drills).
So coy level weapons then I assume?
Well the DF needs to find MOs (or other arrangements) because EVERY member of the RDF has to do an annual medical in 2014 as part of there KPIs.

Yeah. SRAAW's, 84's, .5's etc.
SRAAW - section level - everyone should be able to use it
84 - coy level - those in the A/T section at coy level trained on it
.5 - bn level - no RDF infantry should be training on it

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.
