    Nick has the advantage of actual service on Irish AFVs and then his service in the US Army on the Abrams, whereas I don't know of HD ever serving in anyone's army. So,to me,they complement each other.

      Really enjoy Nicholas Morans channel very entertaining and honest. Hilary Doyle comes across as a bit smug

        Don't get me wrong - I really like Nick Moran's work and he has the added benefit of including the "out takes" in his videos for a bit of a laugh. He's very knowledgeable but, as far as I'm aware, he hasn't published any historical works unlike Hilary Doyle. (For full disclosure I've met Hilary Doyle and he's far from smug - he does, however, have a very distant, academic air which doesn't lend itself to video).

        The advantage Nick has, as stated before, is that he's served so, when commenting on the ergonomics of any AFV, he speaks from experience.

          As you say Hiliary Doyle doesnt lend himself to video. Mr Moran has recently published a book on tank destroyers https://www.amazon.com/Can-Openers-D.../dp/1635618592

            Thanks for the link - that's ordered now. Do you know if anyone ever contacted him about his request for a Curragh based video ?

              Dammit - spoke too soon - out of stock on Amazon.co.uk and US won't ship to Ireland.

                Try here, once they reopen:
                'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
                'Unselfishly so we might have today!'
                Like hell! He fought because he had to fight;
                He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.

                      I didn't think it warranted it's own thread so I thought I'd put it here, an old clip from the 1960's of an exercise in the Glen with Comet's, Landsverk AC's and a Churchill:
