It had the 8 Landsverks and the 4 Leylands. It later got the 5 Irish built Dodges.Comment

always give the landsverk a good look over when im in the transport museum in howth i even got a look at the layland armoured car one time.i have no photo of any of the dodge a/c if ever someone come's across one i'd love a copy.Comment

He may have misheard a common story.
No CIT carried out by the army was ever attacked by PIRA. However many Garda only escorts were attacked. The vehicle used by the army for the CIT was irellevant, though it is possible that at one time these vehicles were a part of certain convoys, and you know how chinese whispers work etc.For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.Comment

The ironic thing about fitting the 20mm cannon to the cars and getting them to fire correctly was that the Swedish and French armies had vehicles fitted with 20mm Hispanos from their scrapped Vampires (or equivalent) and they worked just fine.A pity our lads didnt think of asking them for help.Comment

According to Ralph Riccio's book five of the original L 180 Landsverks were fitted with the ex Air Corps Hispanos in 1974. I've watched more of Nick Moran's videos in the last three weeks than in the preceding 3 years. As an aside it's rather remarkable that we have two such well known AFV publicists (can't think of a better term - I can't really describe The Chieftain as a historian whereas Doyle definitely is) in Hilary Doyle and Nick Moran given that we have no armour industry, no armoured capability worth speaking of and no history of armoured warfare.
If anyone hasn't seen the episode of Combat Dealers where they bring in Hilary to identify the origins of a Panther then do so - they're repeated all the time on various Discovery channels.
