  • Moonlight Challenge 2011 - 12 NOV 2011

Thanks to your support over the last number of years, we’ve finished the first phase and have stated the final phase of construction on the ‘Glen Team’ Mountain Rescue Base.

As promised, we are running the Moonlight Challenge in 2011. This will take place during the full moon in November, and will incorporate a 26km hike mostly along the Wicklow Way. Participants take part as a team - although more experienced challengers may decide to run or go solo, or both!

For more information contact fog@wmr.ieThis e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Once you've registered we’ll send you detailed instructions explaining the challenge requirements and a fundraising pack.

There is a registration fee of €25.00 per person and a minimum fundraising target of €75.00 per person. All funds raised will go directly to building the Mountain Rescue Base.
Please Note: ONLY TEAMS REGISTERED BEFORE THE NIGHT WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE PART

nice to see this back again.

did one for Glen of Imaal team a good few years ago and it was great craic. The route wasn't as long but was great for night navigation and confidence building moving at night.

basic set up was teams of 4 and a common start point for all. you were given the map co-ordinates of the next check point as you reached each one which meant you didn't know route prior to event and had to choose your own route around the course. weather was pretty cloudy with snow on the ground in parts so was a great opportunity for testing your pacing and compass bearings!

all in all i'd highly recommend taking part for anybody DF or otherwise who wants to have a good night and test their nav skills.
