      No idea, TBH. Maybe some of the resident Brits will know ?

        Certainly indirectly, in that "yellowpack" Gurkhas are no longer on the table.

        British defence spending is a disgrace, and has been for a long time. Valuable manpower gets cut while the latest whiz-bang toys from BAe get pots of money thrown at them (and does the British nuclear deterrent make any sense?).

          "Yellowpack" ?

          Expain that one, did the Gurkhas not recently secure the same T and C's
          as everyone else in the British Army, namely allowed to serve to 22 years, rather then the
          heretofore 15 years ?

            Yes, therefore, no longer Yellowpacks (in comparison to the rest).

              Have to agree with you there.
              'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
              'Unselfishly so we might have today!'
              Like hell! He fought because he had to fight;
              He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.

                Defence spending is a combination of investing in manpower and equipment within a budget. There have been some massive overspends. That said the constant investment in equipment will ensure the army is equipped for future conflict. Having a nuclear deterrent keeps the uk at the top table.
