    • A modern programmable 120mm round is as deadly as it needs to be and the overriding reason to keep them is cost and utility; cheap compared to any field gun, easy to operate and maintain and crew and relatively simple to move around. As for 105mm, I think it's a fine calibre but there are commentators out there who would say that the 105 has had it's day in towed form and mobile 155 is the only game in town. The Ukrainians like the 105 because allied to the right technology, it's like a sniper rifle compared to the older Russian stuff. In our context, we have the 120 because the DoD is too mean to buy decent tube artillery.
