The Bushies are replacing the Command & Control variant of the armoured Pinzgauers, if the DF statement was not enough the image released show a large number of antenna consistent with this mission. The Bushie has a large internal volume complete with A/C that is more suitable than one of the NZLAV's. In order to get anywhere near the same volume the aft roof would need to be raised on the NZLAV. Technically possible but would be very expensive and the cost of the project is not a lot when considering the equipment installed. The price of the new vehicle is around €1m, and it should serve 30+ years.
The only annoying thing is that we have not offered NZ$30m for the job lot and given them to the Cav boys as replacements for their retired AML & Scorpion vehicles.
