And whistled early with the lark.

In winter trenches, cowed and glum,

I just blew my tea through my nose over my keyboard, busting my shite laughing at the thought that you actually believe what you just wrote.

Yes, you boys can shoot well, there's no denying that, you get plenty of time on the range; but in the field, when it comes down the real business of soldiering, the East are the Daddies! Fact.

Soooo much evidence to the contrary mate that posting it would make this thread be shut down for diverging from the main point.

Ah now Buck, there's a stockpile of cringe worthy stories about the West and South in the field it deserves a thread of its own.

Amateur hour yahoo antics of the Wild West at the last assessments - I rest my case

I refuse to talk about this more on this thread because it's not about the EBDE shooting comp. But be safe in the knowledge that the east most certainly are not the best and the West and South have your arses covered.

Thanks for covering our asses Buck, it's reassuring to know that we have all you "sharp shooters" in the rear with the gear while the Mighty East Bde are getting stuck in, advancing towards contact because we're the best men to get the job done.

Like I said, no point arguing with fact.

whether I believe it or not is irrelevant, the reaction was worth with

I can;t qualify to hold an opinion in the big mickey competition as I haven't been in the game for 3 and a half years at this point.

Just a throw away point designed to give some one a laugh.

Thanks S&S, bit of a tedious day at the office , crap weather outside, your reaction gave me a giggle.

This is the Results of EASTERN BRIGADE SHOOT thread... suffice to say that someone in the E Bde won and not a single f**k was given about the other Bde's on the day, from that point of view.

TBH we usually disregard our comrades in other Bde's anyway - bar the all army - when we "parade soldiers" march smartly away from the plates grumbling...

"if only they could soldier that well"

"He is an enemy officer taken in battle and entitled to fair treatment."
"No, sir. He's a sergeant, and they don't deserve no respect at all, sir. I should know. They're cunning and artful, if they're any good. I wouldn't mind if he was an officer, sir. But sergeants are clever."

Never met any one from the east in all army falling plates during my visits apart from the LSB, so in truth wouldn't know what they grumble about!

Having joined in the east and relocated to the west and having done a few combined courses, the East aren't the be all and end all. Yes there are some good ones and some shite one's too, same for everywhere I suppose. To quote an Eastern comrade "I know pain, I've done push ups in rivers", a day later he went flat.....

Oh the wesht has a bde??!?

I'd assumed that you lads just joined the Gun shootin, tea drinking social clubs that happened to be in uniform for the craic! What evidence of the bog warriors being better in soldiery type activities is there? As its sure as hell is not skills based? I swear that last time I was on assessments I saw the an O Group that comprised of the biggest knuckle draggers in the platoon gather to decide on the best course of action, the way they did this was beat their chests, the one who beat the loudest gained command, they then proceeded to smear a finger painting in poo on a ground sheet, then scurried back up a tree to find gather up the rest of the horde.

Fair enough you lads can shoot! But thats from all the practice you have from protecting the farmsteads from rabid donkeys.

The reason they use the East for parade like activities is for PR. As if the civilized parts (the pale) of the world saw that we allowed inbred redheaded mishapen trolls into uniform, they'd question our abilities. So they keep us eastern pretty boys who can walk upright for that purpose.

For the record, I have a massive penis.

    :P

    Assessments 2011,

    wow!

    where do I start ?

that was a fun night on the ground, just as I was getting my section ready to head off to visit the elephants and clowns, one of us suddenly realised that it was the wests and souths patrol harbors we were looking at and NOT a Fossets 3 ring circus :D

I have a good idea of what it was like in the Somme 1916 when the western trolls on our left flank came under contact,
they formed up in an orderly line,
    popped smoke
and thundered braveheart style straight into the waiting enemy position...
none of your fancy noncey tactics or leaps and bounds!!!

As for the rebels, well Ill give them this much, the south sure dont need the radios they were given...
this particular breed of men, with hyper developed lung capacity, and well used to hollering at each others tribes across the misty valleys of the Macgillycuddy's Reeks, quickly gutted the SINCGARS and used them as war drums!

in the East, probably due to the effects of Sellafield, we sadly do have bigger mickeys than the rest of you rock apes!

    *this is FUN*

Lads, I think we should lay off them. As you know they only have limited access to the internets down the shtix as they only have one dial up 'puter per village. So they won't be able to retaliate as quickly or with suitable numbers.

What about the unit from the east that (despite being told repeatedly and repeatedly and repeatedly that this was not the enemy) attacked the "enemy" only to find that it was, in fact, their own guys?

Or the guys strolling around the assessments with Rambo knives? What's that for?

Or the guys who wear so much high speed, low drag gear that they turn out to be more high drag and low speed?

Or the guys who pack everything including the kitchen sink into their bergans and end up going down after 10 minutes...

Ah now the 62nd aren't all that bad :P

As for the knives...well the 65th don't tend to be the most cultured bunch of folks and having the 5th bn as a parent unit, can't really help but immitate the pros!

yeah, the 62nd arent that bad

theyre kinda like an RDF for the RDF...

theyre really cute too and are so loyal that they always return home after we let them out of their cage

as for Rambo knives? Ah thats daft... so last year... the rest of us carry tomahawks now.

plus if you've done survival training - with a PDF instructor, not raping and then eating live sheep in a field in conemara - you'll know the benefit of these 2 items of kit being somewhere to hand... plus we like to take scalps over here

I remember when we started to dig latrines, an orrifice came up and we were told that we couldnt use them, that seeing how the our poorer cousins were up in the big smoke, we were to act civilised and pretend like we knew how to use portaloo's... also we were told to stop stealing the bog roll from them.
