    They hardly used a chopper for that? That's what the PC12 was for, I'd have thought.

    'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
    'Unselfishly so we might have today!'
    Like hell! He fought because he had to fight;
    He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.

      Of course not, but if you consider the location of the incident you can see the humour in it if it were .

          Happened a couple of times in Alouette days and thankfully, yesterday and back then, the door fell clear without fouling the aircraft and hurt no-one on the ground.

            Panels and doors falling off or opening on an aircraft or engine nacelle during flight is a common enough occurance. One of the PC9's lost a main door a few years back after the fibreglass cracked in half. As a result all the doors in the remainder in the fleet were checked, most had similar cracks and were all replaced with new and modified doors.

              10 min early they had a young man in the back bleeding out. They were returning from a EAS mission.

                MEDEVAC by Declan Daly gives an excellent insight into not just EAS, the AW139 but the whole AC

                Excellent read

                    Vertical magazine have a feature on their website
                    mostly discussing the heli ops that the Air Corps carries out.

                    Starting out as a dedicated SAR unit, the Irish Air Corps Helicopter Wing has grown into air medical and air support roles to protect and serve surrounding communities, all while facing Ireland’s ever-changing weather.

                              It got very, very close some years ago to the point that the AC were listed by EDA as participants. It got pulled at the last minute.

                                Prelim reports are completed, AAIU not involved in this one, same aircraft that lost the door in Kerry.
                                Ken Foxe did a good FOI showing extracts of the report.
                                For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.
