Of course, if it’s OPSEC, just tell me to go away, it’s just idle curiosity on my part!
    Reach the standard.
Attitude has a major influence too even if physically a candidate is meeting all the marks.
An army is power. Its entire purpose is to coerce others. This power can not be used carelessly or recklessly. This power can do great harm. We have seen more suffering than any man should ever see, and if there is going to be an end to it, it must be an end that justifies the cost. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain

    • Ex ARW, ex US SOF operator gives his opinion on the recent article.
For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

      • Don't believe all the "Facts" in that Irish Times article and Kevin's opinion on same.

Some of it is waaaaaay off the mark.
"Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.

CODF said permanently based Maritime and Air Task Groups in Haulbowline and Baldonnel, also said they should have organic combat helicopters, formation of a SOCOM

Recommendations 14, 15, 16…. SOCOM doesn’t seem to have made the recommendation

The Haulbowline & Baldonnel thing was “accepted in principle” in the HLIP (Rec 97), organic Helis was “revert” to Government (Rec 106).

under DIP, Haulbowline & Baldonnel planned for completion by 2028, the organic Helis will be reverted to Government in 2028.

under DIP the existing WP ARW Projects are to be completed by Q3 2025, the SOF directorate is to be stood up this year

its all in the CODF, HLIP and DIP

yes his politics can be questionable

Not disputing what you have outlined above. It's peoples interpretation of what they mean that is causing a lot of confusion.

              • As an outside layman, I am asssuming the so called "Land" componant is going to be something along the lines of a combination of the SAS Mountain and Mobility Troops or maybe even SFSG???
It was the year of fire...the year of destruction...the year we took back what was ours.
It was the year of rebirth...the year of great sadness...the year of pain...and the year of joy.
It was a new age...It was the end of history.
It was the year everything changed.
