New Joint Army/Gardai exercise.
For some mature discussion:
With the AW139 at midlife and the changing security picture in Ireland along with the need to protect our Air Space, Surface and Sub surface assets (17% EU waters) how does the AC look to expend its role and upgrade equipment over the next 10 years, if you were in Government???
Plan the replacement of the Casas/AW 139s/Cessnas now. The lead-in for entry into service is an absolute minimum of a year....Replace or upgrade the State's radar assets as required...... Plan for the loss of GASU from the Don, as it should be the Gardai's responsibility...... Get a small to medium transport category aircraft for utility/para/survey/surveillance, as part of replacing the Cessnas.....plan for doing more for the Army, especially overseas, so incorporate more actual military training for genuine long distance, off-base field ops. Get away from the garrison mentality!.....plan the replacement of the Govt jet.
