This one is actually for the William Butler Yeats, if one was to go by the thread title....
Entirely my fault, for missing the blindingly obvious....
"We will hold out until our last bullet is spent. Could do with some whiskey"
Radio transmission, siege of Jadotville DR Congo. September 1961.

"William Butler Yeats" looking great in the Sun this morning
Great ship crewed by great people serving their country with honour. . Pity it will spend some of its time serving as a taxi service in the med instead of protecting the Irish people and their interests at home. It is beyond belief that the white paper for defence set the requirement for only 8 ships to ensure the security of the state and its waters when compared to the reality that the extent of Irish waters have more then doubled in recent years . Not only did the government decided not to substantially increase the number of ships but went on to decide to have one stationed full time in the med.
