Does this mean we would get a LPD/MRV to be able to provide such a backup service?

And then send Galway CC the bill! See how long their passenger charge would last.

In general officialdom at all levels are single issue decision makers with no concept of collateral consequences. Levy Tax per passenger on the ferry company and put him out of business. Rile all islanders, bring wrath on the heads of politicians, and assume the Navy have suitable ferries in the stores with certificates for carrying passengers, goods etc. Give the Ferry owners an interim grant while the dunderheads sort out the woods from the trees.

We could but it wouldn't be able to do the ferry job

For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

The AC could fill the gap with the 139's (in theory I might add)

Sure why not. The last thing that we would actually need is ALL of our ships patrolling our waters. Maybe we should send all of the ships to the med to hone their taxi skills

Too busy being a taxi elsewhere

Your being very disrepectful to the men and women of NS who are serving on Op PONTUS.

The service is showing what it can do on an international stage.

Nobody berates the Army for serving in the Leb/UNDOF/Mali etc etc.

Regardless of personal views on the migrant crisis, im proud of the job the Navy are doing down there.

You should try it some time, maybe you'd change your rather flat tune.
