      • Another excellent DF podcast.
        This weeks episode looks at the Pilatus PC-12 Spectre aircraft, newly introduced to the fleet of the Irish Air Corps. Officer Commanding 104 Squadron, Commandant Mick Barcoe, takes us through the aircraft's characteristics, roles and operations.

        The Irish Defence Forces Podcast aims to provide interesting content on all aspects of the Irish military. It is a production of the Defence Forces Public Relations Branch.
        For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

          • The PC12 is ideal for collecting the minister from his home in Cork...

                No need, they probably use this:

                'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
                'Unselfishly so we might have today!'
                Like hell! He fought because he had to fight;
                He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.

                  Not sure what type it is though. Happy Christmas one & all.

                    Based upon size and configuration it could be a Wescam MX-15, if it is then it can support up to 9 different sensors.
                    In any case it seems to be good enough to track a L/O target trying to slip into our airspace after making a few stops in the UK!

                      • Can it land at finner? or is the Runway long enough?

                            thought that might be the case, can't be too far off though!

                              Finner has been closed for a long time now, big yellow "X"'s painted on it indicating it is closed.

                              • Yes I knew that Brian, but I figured that was mainly due to lack of operational use rather than any problems with the runway?
                                it’s a shame to lose it as an asset so close to the border
