Let the aircraft live outside, like most do. Only the most rarified get to live full time indoors.
Hangarage is the optimum solution. Not always a need to have but definitely a nice to have.
Different in the airline world where and aircraft is planned to be stationary for 6-8hrs a day on a stand.
Aircraft tend to develop snags when left inactive for prolonged periods. Throw adverse weather and lots of moisture into the mix and an exposed airframe is likely to suffer, no matter how much TLC is applied. Water likes to collect.
Lets's not get hung up on the issue of hangarage, it is a smokenscreen, the SG only wanted one aircraft for potential MATS usage and his minions found the excuses as to why. They even managed to get some excuses to be able to blame it on uniform later! No where in all the paper trail is the an evaluation matrix shown or referred too, the whole thing is the SG is ok with one but not two.
SI no 600/2001 Part 9 para 86 allow the DF to just that

In Cork, these building usually suffer from a disastrous fire before falling down after being shuttered for 10 years, and needing to be fully rebuilt.
Most of Tralee Barracks was demolished and not rebuilt, even though it was the historic home of the 2nd Bn Royal Munster Fusiliers, and it's wartime Battalions, raised by John Redmond. Nenagh was also bulldozed, and Fermoy Barracks met Mr Hymac in the late 70s, and passed from DoD hands soon after..
For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.
Speaking of PC-12s, someone was testing the undercarriage on one lately,going into Newcastle EINC (bumpy) and also EIKH Kilrush(smooth as glass). I was told it was a civvy one bringing a group of engineers around the country, checking out aircraft for sale.

The DoD/DF play the long game as already stated. Listed buildings that no longer are fit for purpose are let rot to the point where they collapse. They are then raised and either a new fit for purpose building is built on the footprint or its left turn back to grass site.
This cuts down on people having to do any work, sign anything that may put their careers at risk and gives a plead ignorance excuse if any grievance is raised.
If there is an absolute urgent need to renovate a listed building it is done, but not untill its delayed to the point where the need passes or if the need remains, it's done at five times the expense and twice the time it should take, for example:

We still have the option aircraft from the original contract. This machine apparently was not it. So if the powers that be decide we can easily acquire another airframe.
Questions need to be asked as to why the delivery of the first of the 3 ISTAR aircraft is now a year (pre covid) behind schedule and if they will be penalised

While new kit is always good it would need to be justified.
We have now passed the first peak pf the pandemic with most expecting a second wave. There I would expect that the GS de-camp to a secluded spot over the coming long weekend and do some strategic planning; what functioned good/bad, what were the strengths/weaknesses of the DF support etc. I would expect also a look at other military responses and how the pandemic has effected our operations. Out of that then to arise what additional equipment the DF needs urgently. It might be that the additional PC-12 is the identified and assigned a priority level, just as the other urgent needs, eg: field hospital.
