No more stoopid than the idea of Navy, Blue and Grey DPM. They can both be stoopid together. It has been done before!

I don’t see any navy (worldwide) going about their daily business in Fire Brigade style boots
There is no such thing as fire proof....everything will burn if enough heat is applied....

...but we have navy peeps dress in Army DPM ...so why is the boot in appropriate when wearing that rig?

          Wool.
For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

          • Apply enough heat any thing will burn!

Wool has an ignition temperature of between 570 and 600 degrees... it will burn!

Because once the Vanity project that is NSV- DPM goes on issue they wont be wearing Army DPM anymore, with the exception of NS types deploying on Land based Missions overseas or on the likes of SOFQ.
"Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.

Yeah.... having served as an airport firefighter for 6 years ( CAA Qualified) I'm familiar with the concept... hence everything will burn!

Is it a wish or reality?

                  • Slight topic derailment but is that navy dpm actually going on issue? That has been bouncing around for years.
I knew a simple soldier boy.....
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.

In winter trenches, cowed and glum,
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
And no one spoke of him again.

You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

                    • Sadly. It's a reality. Should be on trial now with one ships company.

                        • Anyone else remember the Navy combats when everyone else wore og? I seem to remember a navy smock was on issue for a time also.

Yeah. I remember a center spread in the Connect showing them off as NSR Dress alongside the DPMs for the AR when the DPM's were first issued to the RDF.
Nothing wrong with them as far as i could see.
Reasonably smart and practical(open to correction).

The NSV DPM is going to be a joke and a massive PR Faux Pas for the NS in the Current climate("NS can afford to spend X amount on new fancy uniforms they don't need when sailors are living on the ships alongside etc etc").

Yes.The NS uniform badly needed updating but this was not the way to go.

                            • I always associate the blue DPM uniforms with (slightly dodgy) South Asian police forces, rather than Naval uniform.
'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
'Unselfishly so we might have today!'
                              Like hell! He fought because he had to fight;
He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.
