Some government TDs think she is the same as some J1 visa student who needs to come home cos their granny is ill, and needs consular assistance.
Their world view is so narrow, they cannot accept that a woman can be:
    (a) Military trained
    (b) radicalised
    (c) associated with worldwide terrorism
    (d) a danger to anyone around her.

If she comes home it should only be after controlled debriefing by Irish and international security authorities.
German 1: Private Schnutz, I have bad news for you.
    German 2: Private? I am a general!
German 1: That is the bad news.

Anyone have any good reasons why the government rejected J2's plan?

Operational concept? Not wanting to put people on the ground on the Jordanian/Syrian border? Not wanting to be caught cooperating with CIA/US SF? Rank hypocrisy is making lots of public statements about how an Irish citizen can't be denied 'home' (this was at the time when the UK revoked citizenship to IS members), but baulking at the idea that she might actually arrive at Dublin airport?

    So is this a non-story?

When confronted with the fact that this woman existed, the government asked all the appropriate bodies - DF, Int, DFA, government law officers, AGS - for their views and contingency plans within their specific area of expertise, and that when the government sat down to make a decision, with the various departments advice in front of them, it became immediately apparent that there was no a) legal need, and b) no political appetite, to bring her back? So, anything from the DF or DFA and Gardai that included bringing her back instantly went in the bin, regardless of the soundness of the plan?
