Does it matter?
If you are squabbling over the fate of 20 pairs of combat trousers then you probably ought to close up shop - if 'losing' 20 sets of uniform places that much strain on your organisation then you're almost certainly completely combat ineffective and probably ought to to go home and stop wasting everyone's time and money by pretending to exist...
****bag, it does not matter to me at all. I've never heard of the DF using them that's all. On the other hand it seems to have upset you. You have wasted a lot of time researching just how many sets were issued, very little in the greater scheme of things so I wont lose any sleep after last nights shift.
Thanks Dev, I took your advice and looked it up last night.
Will this Navy rebranding also include a more Naval coloured Steyr than the present Army green .
Don't spit in my Bouillabaisse .
Naval steyrs will be sea green...
German 1: Private Schnutz, I have bad news for you.
German 2: Private? I am a general!
German 1: That is the bad news.

Rebranding! Great news! Does that extend to more sailors, better pay and better conditions? Wow, so we're actually getting warships!![]()
Sarsfield
'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
'Unselfishly so we might have today!'
Like hell! He fought because he had to fight;
He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.

As a camo, I like it. As a concept, I fking hate it.
Waste of time and money at best. Waste of life at worst.
So will there be helmet and armour covers in the NSV-DPM? Bush hats? T-shirts?
Sorry if this has been discussed btw
I knew a simple soldier boy.....
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.
In winter trenches, cowed and glum,
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
And no one spoke of him again.
You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.
To the best of my knowledge their is going to be full range of kit in NSV-DPM.
Shirt,trousers,Elmer Fudd hat,Boonie hat,Smock,Waterproofs etc.
Interestingly the Fleece jacket is being wadied as it is not flame retardant and can't be worn below decks to be replaced by.....The wool Jumper.Thats going to be comfortable when worn over a shirt with a bloody big UBACS pocket on one sleeve.
Jesus for a service that want's to be soooooooooooooooo different to the Army they even copied our stupid shirt design.
"Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.
Wool is flame retardant. Always has been. Except for the epaulettes, pocket and pads at elbows and shoulder.

Nor does it melt and stick to the body like some synthetic fabrics do when they catch on fire . During the Falklands war the Royal Navy working dress was made from nylon and melted to the skin from heat and flame during attacks, adding to the victims trauma and injuries . Cotton and wool will disintegrate and fall away if it catches on fire .

Below decks on ships is quite warm and the UBACS T shirt plus shirt would be quite adequate.... or then again if your prone to being cold , ditch the shirt and go for tee shirt and Jumper , leave out the shirt.....but will the jumper be DPM... kinda defeats the porpuse having a navy jumper with DPM trousers... back to the days of 'Bastard rig' army combats in green and blue working dress shirts, used to drive the traditionalists bananas.Thats going to be comfortable when worn over a shirt with a bloody big UBACS pocket on one sleeve.
Now picture a time when the particular size required for the rating is not available and hes forced to wear standard working dress when every one else has DPM..or bits there of as we know nothing fits first time.
This while wrong is going to be comical...

Comical. Many years ago Petty Officers uniforms were ordered from two different contractors using similar cloth. Th trousers from one and the jackets from another. The tailors in each cut the cloth differently so that , on parade , in daylight, it looked like the PO's were dressed in sports coats and pants. Civil servants taking the initiative can end up in SNAFU.
