Has there been a guidance on the positioning of the subdued flashes.
Only thing is they went with the copy and paste effort for the measurements of where they are to be placed on the right sleeve of all those garments without bothering to check if it was possible to mount them there due to pocket placement of if there was already a velcro panel there to accept them, albeit slightly lower down the sleeve. Cue chaos.
Again."Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.

2 BDE seem to be rolling them out faster than everywhere else. BSM 28BN and APM 2BDE wearing them at a brief I attended recently."Let us be clear about three facts. Admin Instr A9 Amended to clarify how the new subdued badges are to be worn with the various versions of the shirt, smock and UBACS.
Quals badges ( Para wings etc) now authorised for wear to wear with DPM Shirt +Smock. Not to be worn on UBACS.

Ok. I have had a good read of the instruction before commenting and there is good and bad in it but mostly useful.
Pro's
1/ We finally have an instruction on how the badges are to be worn on the UBACS and more importantly what shouldn't be worn( Really folks it had gotten ridiculous).
2/ Reason prevailed and no stupid instruction to mount the velcro badges ABOVE the already provided Velcro panels on the new shirts was made in order to meet the "2.5cm down from the highest point of the shoulder" rule.
3/ The head shed faced up to reality and finally permitted what everyone qualified was doing anyway. Wearing Quals badges on the DPM Shirt/Smock.
4/ The NS new badges were finally included in the A.I
Con's
1/ There is a typo in the Annex with the pictures showing how the subdued badges are to be mounted mentioning the Barrack Jacket. Despite the fact that the amended Instruction only permits wear on the shirt and smock. Cue confusion and damage to the Barrack jacket linings.
2/ The layout for wearing the badges on the left sleeve of the UBACS is back to front. It has the Tricolour at the front edge(as worn)and the rank marking at the rear. Meaning the National flag will be lower than the rank if worn like pictured. Everyone has been wearing it the other way around for the last few years. Tricolour at the back is higher up the arm as it should be. Bit of an oversight.
3/ Layout of the mounting of the Subdued unit flash on the smock only pictures the new smock. Not the old. Should have shown both.like they did for the shirt.
4/ No "wear in" date for personnel having to have the Badges mounted provided.
5/ No mention of mounting the Army Diver Group subdued badge above the nametag, while the Irish speaker "G" badge is. More importantly how Irish speaking divers wear both badges isn't covered/pictured while Para qualified EOD personnel are.
All in all positive though.Even if the formatting of the document on IKON is shocking!!."Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Got 'em.
Three. With velcro backing. They come with the female velcro also to sew onto your old type shirt and Smock etc.
Gonna need more female velcro though. Three pieces not enough."Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman.
