Simple solutions should be no insignia then.
For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

From painful experience if vanity projects are wanted by the boss then thats what you get. We had seven different flashes in one unit and the amount of divisiveness it caused rolleyes

So. Mounting issues aside(You can always sew a velcro patch on the right sleeve of the old shirts/smocks and new smocks to take the badge. It will just look shit) has anybody actually seen the actual new badges. IE not the makey uppy ones some units have gotten made up. Better still anybody been issued them yet?
"Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.

Am thinking a standardised Velcro patch won't work, when you think of different shaped flashes (28 Bn, 12 Bn, 2 Cav, 3 Bn as examples). The obvious best solution, as you said yourself, is the Velcro patch with blanking plate, as per the UBACS shirt.

Have not received same as yet, because have not been parading due to COVID-19 restrictions, so am not aware if my callsign has them on issue as yet

Actually if you make the velcro patch a standard size square, ensuring it is larger then the diameter of any issued unit patch, then yeah it would work.Plenty of Militaries do this.Swedes in Liberia used to have the round UN badge on a green velcro square that was factory sewn on. Singapore's Army, who LOVE their patches and have many different shapes and sizes just do the same.(See pic for example)We seem to be obsessed with having to "hide" the velcro when sewn on a shirt/smock.Of course it doesn't help that black velcro seems to be easier to source here than green.Which looks gank on the uniform.

Me neither. I think all the clothing stores closed up for a few weeks there. Just wondering had they re-opened in some callsigns and started issuing these.

Jesus. Covid must be killing the DF's supply chain. Another month on and no sign of the flashes or any of the other new kit. Just goes to show how vulnerable we are to disruption in times of emergency when nearly all your kit and equipment comes from abroad.(Uniforms, boots, ammo, ration packs etc etc).

Neutrality should mean self sufficiency when it comes to war like stores.

Admin Instruction A9 amended with pictures of all, the DF approved Unit flashes/subdued flashes/Lanyards and Rank Markings.

I had some fun during the week telling the lads who had bought their own makey uppy subdued badges that the badge design was back to front so they wont be able to wear them
Glad I held off buying now!

Just in the last few days? You get all the other items with? Badges velcro backed? Do they come with female velcro to stitch on to items that don't have velcro panels factory fitted?

Has there been a guidance on the positioning of the subdued flashes.
What are you cackling at, fatty? Too much pie, that's your problem.

Don't know ODIN , but am guessing that with the advent of the new pattern DPM shirts, it will be easier to wear them with the Velcro panels on both sleeves
On DPM smocks, however, will be another matter
