I know. In a time of almost 100% employment, there will be queues at the barrack gate...
For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

500,000 now in receipt of social welfare payments as a result of the current crisis.

5 retired members contacted an old battery / squadron / company sized unit of mine this week to enquire about coming back or if there was anything they could do that would take pressure off the unit, as soldiers, contractors, volunteers.

The fact you can come back and leave for nothing when ever you want will be attractive. The remunerations might not.

Quite what a spare RSM or BQMS will do is open to questions. A junior rank technician on the other hand is a different story

And if it allows 3 people to come back when the grass was greener on the other side or for whom their life situation has changed .... it’s worth it

            “Intelligent mobilisation”
On 18 March the Defence Secretary announced new measures to enable armed forces personnel to support public services in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

Beware.... if they mandatory call us up under ATCP its not an option with a choice. its a "be on parade tomorrow and the next day untii released", job or family notwithstanding.
"Are they trying to shoot down the other drone? "

"No, they're trying to fly the tank"

This is not an ATCP operation

                    So far
"Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.

I'm not aware of anything that sets out any punishment or measures that can be taken if someone fails to parade in such circumstances?

Looks like he is just expressing his appreciation for their work. Fact is some of the more useful reservists are already engaged in their civvy job, which also happens to be an essential occupation. RDFRA on twitter have been hilighting these all week. This is where people are needed more at present.

Not forgetting logs support will be required and if reservists were covering some duties that will free up PDF with skills that are harder to come by

Also not forgetting that there is more than likely DF personnel who are confirmed cases/close contacts/self isolating etc ... just like the rest of the population
