That part of the USN operates in an uncomfortable professional status, as often CVN's have former flyers as Captains. They would not be as Salt Water and Old School as Seaman officers who came up through the Fleet system and would be used to instant reactions and decisions.

We have not seen the last of this man. The dems have chosen him as their anti-trump hero, and a considerable portion of neutral and right wing commentators think this is a step.too far for the Trump presidency. The military are apolitical. A president should support them no matter what.For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

Opinion: Removing the USS Theodore Roosevelt captain was reckless and foolish
John Kirby writes that when Thomas Modly, acting secretary of the Navy, removed Capt. Brett Crozier of the USS Theodore Roosevelt, it was unwarranted, reckless in its timing and petty in appearances. And Modly’s decision could have a chilling effect on other commanding officers in similar circumstances.'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
'Unselfishly so we might have today!'
Like hell! He fought because he had to fight;
He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.

Its a US law that carrier captains have to be aviators. In addition to the ship driving course they have to do Nuclear power school as well AND do a tour as XO of a nuclear ship which means they nearly have to map their career out miles in front, and if you want to have enough time left to screen for flag rank it means you have to punch the tickets needed very early in the career"Are they trying to shoot down the other drone? "
"No, they're trying to fly the tank"

Lehman fired Rickover (who was a right bastard , but nevertheless a hero too, nuclear carriers would not exist without him ) and got away with it."Are they trying to shoot down the other drone? "
"No, they're trying to fly the tank"

Trump will claim that only one thousand of the four thousand crew members cheered the Captain off of the ship thus claiming that the decision to remove the Captain from his position was favoured by a large majority of the crew .Don't spit in my Bouillabaisse .

Whatever happens, this guy's career is essentially over as he will be considered a toxic, loose cannon and will end up as OC Blankets, Grey,if he is lucky. The speed with which the bosses chopped him is indicative of how risky it is to make a mistake as a ship's captain these days. The phrase, "loss of confidence" is a death sentence.

Only one boss chopped him. The rest in the line had little say in the matter.
Indeed the one who chopped him is only in the job as he replaced the man who wouldn't reinstate the Navy seal who got away with committing war crimes.For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

I suppose the Captain can take a sabbatical and work on his garden until he has a new CinC next January..'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
'Unselfishly so we might have today!'
