Some years ago, there was a suggestio that the Alouette III could end their working lives overseas with the UN, for example with ITALAIR in UNIFIL who have been working away with an ancient AB212.
Depending on where they went, they'd possibly do better in the climate.
This was after the balls up with Leasing the Mi-8 in Chad.
No more came of it.
there was a suggestion that Air Corps crews could go out to join Italair, get some genuine time in the field and all that. it was knocked on the head by the Italians, allegedly rather vehemently. the irony is that we bought Italian afterwards...
