  • NSR Commissioning

Congratulations to the 3rd NSR Potential Officers Class who commissioned yesterday.

A proud day for them and their families. Coupled with the recent NCO promotions, a promising time for the units.

    Well done!
'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
'Unselfishly so we might have today!'
    Like hell! He fought because he had to fight;
He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.

Great to see the future of the NSR in safe hands. 3 from the dublin unit I believe?
For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

Bravo Zulu to the 6 new Ensigns.
Proud to say 3 of the 6 are very fine members of DUNSR, Ensign Mooney, Ensign Rutledge, Ensign Alvey.

They have worked incredibly hard to get to this day.

These are the future life blood for the service, so it’s in good hands. ????
That's from one of the comments on facebook.

Pity about the gender and not entirely understood as the candidates are selected. Right now it would benefit the new officers if they could get the time to spend 4/6 months on ships to become useful watch officers in their branches and give them professional confidence.

Hopefully they will be well commissioned by this time next year.

There used to be one female officer in Dublin NSR. As a ratio of the total officer strength, that seems like enough. Also, did any female NCO apply? No gender balance unless there are suitably diverse applicant.

There were 17 females on my AR Pot Officer course back in the day , some are still serving. Gender is no bar at all here

Commissioning for AR not set in stone yet , COVID has it up in the air understandably
"Are they trying to shoot down the other drone? "

"No, they're trying to fly the tank"
