Carrier fire in San Deigo

To operate F-35 the Wasp class needs to have mainly an upgraded deck to cope with the high exhaust gases from the F-35 engines and the additional loads generated. These changes the Spanish, Italian and Japanese navies will have to do also to their vessels to allow them to operate the F-35.
There are two Tarawa class in reserve which could be reactivated with AV-8B's to cover until the remaining Wasp class have completed their refits and an additional America class is ordered and built. Yard capacity may be a limiting factor in getting a replacement completed.

A hot take from the CNO on the material state:
Breaking Defense has obtained an email from Adm. Michael Gilday detailing the damage of 11 of the amphibious ship’s 14 decks.
Basically, "yeah we could rebuild her, but should we?" Meanwhile the USN ordered a safety standard as one of her sister ships on the East Coast also had a dockyard fire though it was minor and dealt with and the JFK under construction reportedly had a minor fire as well.

'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
'Unselfishly so we might have today!'
Like hell! He fought because he had to fight;
He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.

The USN have lifted off the standing mast, while they are preparing to remove the fallen one both due to concerns with the structural integrity of the island, and for example of this, here's a tweet with some photos:
The first one, the guy is looking up through 4 decks through the island...

Investigators now believe the fire was started deliberately by a USN sailor, making it the largest loss of property due to arson of all time.
Multiple sources with close ties to Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) told ABC 10News that investigators determined the July 12 fire may have been set intentionally. Investigators identified a sailor as an arson suspect in their probe, sources said.For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

Seems that dur to the criminal investigation the USN still does not know if they can save the USS Bonhomme-Richard. Even if they can it might have to re-build everything from the well deck upwards. IMHO if they need hulls they should instead spend the money on the two reserve Tarawa class vessels, modify the deck for the F-35 and plonk a ski-jump on the bow. It would be a lot faster and entail lower risks. A F-35 will fit in a Tarawa class hangar on on the side lift, so mods would be limited to making the deck suitable.

They only have 11x CVN's and 9x LHA/LHD's to counter the Chinese without a replacement.
