Ireland could ask for 12hour endurance maritime UAVs from EMSA in the morning (for free)

We need a Remote pilotless Unit and should buy and avail of training for the operation of the correct type of surveillance unit. To start with we could use a NATO type to 3000m altitude and 50 km range.

I think first strike and First Use get confused. A nuclear low Kilo Tonne missile with a range of 300km might not be classified as first strike. First Strike is an action which should take out all en assets in one fell swoop so that he cannot retaliate

France has two sets of plans for the use of its nuclear weapons, one is on their own and the second is in co-operation with NATO. Thus which of the two weapons systems is used first cannot be stated. France also retains the policy of "first use" for all its weapons.

The fact is Nuclear Disarmament comes with a small N. These people want total disarmament. The notion that if there was no guns there would be no war. Which as the makers of spears, arrows and pointy rocks know is not accurate.

          But they shout louder.
Yes, that debate is not exactly a current one though. And judging from the disarmamaent ppl I meat at Slándáil they are mostly troglodytes. This is not the 80s any more - thankfully.

Not quiet, the EMSA is not a drone service provider, it is a regulatory agency and has been supporting the use of drone with Frontex and European Fisheries Control Agency (EFCA). It is also working with EASA on the topic of the certification of drones to operate in controlled airspace something that limits their use at present. The most suitable drone that they have been using is the Hermes 900 but this machine is operated from Elbit Systems but via the Portuguese company CeiiA. There is only one and it is under contact and this is now leased to Island under a two year $68m contract.

The original point was not too look at other countries vessels as such but to question if we can do more in cooperation with Marine Nationale, as such the discussion will always drift towards that of equipment.
Elsewhere we have discussed for example the lack of ASW capability, would this be an area where MN could help with their capabilities and in return we provide joint OPV capability. The same goes for air cover and patrol, would the could the combined fleets be used more effectively. The C295 on joint FP patrols and the Atlantique 2 on joint submarine patrol?

Why bother , most of the developed world use English as an international working language hence so many English language schools here in Ireland , I've been hosting Erasmus programme students for many years mostly from France ,Germany and Spain and their level of English is excellent .

                      What about the Quebecois?
My niece was there a few years back as part of her studies. Worse than the french when it comes to speaking their language. You know they all speak english, they just choose not to.
For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

Canadian French is so bad , when their TV soaps are shown on French TV, French sub titles are added to correct their bad grammar and pronunciation .

On balance a lot of French do not have a lot of English. Also a very colonial attitude.

Ans, as stated above, a willingness to try ad speak French will get you a lot of goodwill. As it is with Irish in the gaeltochts.

It is the same with Swiss German, when anything is shown with Swiss Germans in Germany there are always sub-titles
