Giving that they are CHC employees (not IRCG) would happen anyway
Every person joining the original CHC contract knew that they could get the "connie's crucifix" (pack yer bags, yer gone) at any time in the contract. It's the nature of the business and quite common in the wider aviation world. Same for Bristows staff; they could get the chop at any time, especially pilots and techies. Everyone knows this from the off and the Senator appears to be the only one who doesnt. Apart from that, there is a chronic shortage of SAR qualified pilots and backseaters and heli qualified techies so none of them will have any problem picking up work. You're also quite likely to lose them to the airlines as they are crying out for qualified staff, as they can easily be converted to fixed wing. I'll bet an Ankh-Morpork dollar that the legal proceedings are little more than a delaying tactic / reputation saver BUT CHC will simply move on and pick up work someplace else. Them and Bristows are effectively interchangeable and most of the staff are old mates anyway.

    • Seeing that CHC will have a few S-92's free would it not be a chance for the Air Corps to pick up finally a real medium lift helicopter on the cheap? The crews could get a short term contract until we have enough people to replace them!

What makes you think they'll be free? CHC operates 46 of the type around the world, and with their recent financial difficulties, they'll not be giving anything away lightly.. All the ones in Ireland are either 06 or 13 builds, so are relatively new too.
For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

I dont think he meant "free" in the sense of "for nothing". CHC will mothball these S92s very quickly as soon as they are given the order to march off and whoever actually owns these airframes will be collecting them in a matter of days. I suspect the S-92s are already jobbed for another user or have a time slot awaiting for a maintenance visit. They won't be idle for very long.

          • Wouldn't surprise me at all if Bristow are waiting for them.
