Just have being reading some old documents from the Council on Defence July 1025, yes 1925!
The conclusions about the state of the Defence Forces capabilities are familiar to anyone who has read the CoDF and it has similar recommendations to the LOAs!
Ever since the Ministers and Secretaries Act of 1924 the Defence Forces have been neutered and the policy has been to do even less than necessary. Sadly nearly 100 years latter the system is so set in stone it seems it will never change.

Why is the DFCOS being called before the Oireachtas Committee on defence and not the Sec Gen DoD?

Nothing of substance will be undertaken with regard to the obvious defence needs of the country until it is too late. This is what happened in 1939 and 1969. It is probably already too late.
