  • Gallery range in sligo?

I see on Boardsie a user there has found what appears to be a large quantity of expended 303 rounds in one of the dunes. Based on his description, they are being found in what was once a Butt Stop.
They have said there are no buildings in the area, and he/she has no memory of any military camp there. Oddly, no sign of any brass casings.
Does anyone know of a disused Army firing range on the dunes in Strandhill?
The photos all seem to be metal jacket pointed type as used on the Lee Enfield 303, (but not the blunt round used on earlier types.)
The thought is it may have seen some use for training during the War of independence.
For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.
