As an aside, anyone interested in full set of franch roingear? Looks just like irish DPM, but isnt. Free. Sized to fit someone who is 5'10 and a waistline no larger than 40. Currently heading for the clothes charity bin.

And the raingear NG, is it in good nick? Photos?
I knew a simple soldier boy.....
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.

In winter trenches, cowed and glum,
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
And no one spoke of him again.

You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

It is, Only wore it a few times, much tidier in an AML turret than the issue stuff, and difficult to spot the difference from far off. Trousers have zips on each side to ease putting them on and off while sitting down and also fold into their own arse pocket. Jacket rolls into the hood, which also fits in the arse pocket of the trousers, or pantalon.
    Photos to follow..

Thanks for the interest folks. It has been saved from the charity bin and will instead live out its days keeping some IMO user mostly dry...

Not quite a bullshit job. Ebay seller has it mixed up.

It's wrong army. Looks to be the uniform for a Royal Irish Hussars Lance Corporal.

You are both correct. The uniforms are very different. Photo is the Irish army blue hussars uniform.

Using google translate on the webpage he doesn't use the phrase Blue Hussars. It is referred to as the Irish Hussars

He does mention Dublin though which is only adding to the confusion. I don't think he knows what he's selling!

There was an avenue explored in the 90's to re launch the Blue Huzzars as a horse mounted unit with similar grab from the past and at least one uniform was made. Its came to nothing.
Time for another break I think......

https://www.ebay.ie/itm/NEW-Issue-Fr...72.m2749.l2649 they're meindls, very comfy no hooks for the laces which is a but annoying tbh tho but they are cheap meindls! They're more typical desert boot coloured in reality the colours in the pic are a bit off

'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
'Unselfishly so we might have today!'
    Like hell! He fought because he had to fight;
He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.

    "ranger" shopping bag.
The people of England have been led in Mesopotamia into a trap from which it will be hard to escape with dignity and honour. They have been tricked into it by a steady withholding of information. The Baghdad communiqués are belated, insincere, incomplete.....It is a disgrace to our imperial record, and may soon be too inflamed for any ordinary cure.We are to-day not far from a disaster.
