i've seen a few people replace the PLCE belt buckle with the following to prevent the excess material on the belt slipping and your webbing repeatedly loosening on the ground:

    1. remove plastic male / female PLCE buckle and replace with a metal rigger belt roll-pin type buckle. free end of the webbing belt must be threaded through the buckle each time CEFO is put on or taken off but once tightened does not slip.

    2. some have "acquired" a 58 pattern belt and cannabolised the buckle and the metal keepers on the inside of the belt. replace the plastic male / female PLCE buckle and put the 58 pattern buckle on the same way it would be fitted to a 58 belt. cut off the excess material on the PLCE belt and again when buckle is closed will not slip.

the second way requires a bit of effort and "improving" to the PLCE belt. the kind of "improving" the the CQ might not approve of! some people have a second PLCE belt set up like this and change it with issued one before going on the ground.

Surprised no one has mentioned the one absolute necessity on the ground, 40 fags in ziploc bags and three spare lighters
Religion is like a puddle thinking that the hole in the ground that it sits in is so perfect for it that some higher being must have created it

As a non smoker I would find the 40 fags a bit excessive. Do you intend passing them out to locals? What about the smell?

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

Not at all 40 is the bare minimum. And as for the smell were hardly talking about CTR's its never been an issue on any of the exercises ive been involved in
