  • The Comet is regarded as a transition between a 2nd WW tank and the modern equivelent....
Apparently they held their own well against a challanger II.
BTW, €30000 seems to be a lot less then the yearly running costs of a AW139 helicopter...
    Anyway.....do I really care ?

not in this day and age!
I knew a simple soldier boy.....
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.

In winter trenches, cowed and glum,
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
And no one spoke of him again.

You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

Yeah, seen an article in one of these Army moddleing mags, about how they recovered a chunk of metal about the size of a large family car and built a late series Tiger out of it

                • MBTs in Ireland.

Considering ,terrain , the lack of air cover and strategic oil reserves, then we should be thinking of deploying these in a defense roll. Consider them as fixed installations with the ability to relocate if necessary. Carry out a survey of the country to decide on strategic locations where these could be deployed and a series of alternative locations where each group could relocate to with maximum use of our geography to conceal and protect them.
In recent times we have seen that MBTs are of little use unless you have the air cover to protect them, the fuel to supply them, They are now prone to drones, smart shells, missiles etc. The only place we saw the Abrahms tank succeed was in areas where they were up against inferior forces with inferior air support and no smartshell or drone capabilities.
If they are free, the Leopard would be the one to go for but it would be handy to aquire a few of the others also for the purpose of studying their engineering.
