why a .388 change ? does it offer a significant advantage over 7.62 lupa .
Yeah, .338 has been adopted as a sniper round by other countries already, its has a flater trajectory and better range and accuracy. The graphs on FM's link show it pretty clearly.
If they're giving the spotter a weapon other than the Steyr, wouldn't something smaller and lighter - a PDW/SMG - make more sense, since the spotter is already carrying extra equipment?
The spotter also needs to be able to support the sniper with fire - a good 556 weapon can reach out to 600m and can support a 308 equipped sniper, 308 for 338 and so on.
Not sure of the outcome but heard they did fairly well. Was there some mix up with weapons or something which made them use the steyr or was it always planned?
