    I'd say so, but then again, these different factions will be knocking the bollix out of
    each other for years to come, in all probability

      When you displace anyone for political reasons, the solution will never be short and simple.
      Look at Israel.

      Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

        Closer to home, look north of the border

          I've heard a few rumours (I know, I know) over the past two days about a possible redeployment to Kosovo next year, anyone else heard anything?

            I haven't heard anything about that. I cant see the Government wanting to foot the bill for anything larger than the current twelve deployed there as its not a UN mission.

            The UN has given the go ahead in the last few days for a new peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic.
            UN troops to be sent to Central African Republic
            The UN Security Council has given the go-ahead for troops to be sent to Central African Republic to protect a UN political mission in the country.

              Do you really think that we can afford to support a 3rd mission? Especially one where the contributing nation foots the entire bill?

                  Lebanon is sadly being downsized at the end of November.

                        The decision has nothing to do with the situation on the ground but a stupid political decision in Ireland. The Finnish are happily filling all the vacancies from the Irish and taken over the strategically important camp.

                              Please allow me to be the first to say

                              Double red arse.......
                              Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
                              Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
                              The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere***
                              The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
                              The best lack all conviction, while the worst
                              Are full of passionate intensity.
