The official announcement on the US end. These will actually be C-130J-30's. There is some serious kit going into these.
“This purchase also includes sensors and performance improvements that will assist New Zealand during extensive maritime surveillance and reconnaissance as well as improve its search and rescue capability. Additionally, the extra cargo capacity and aircraft performance will greatly increase New Zealand's Antarctic mission capabilities while simultaneously increasing safety margins.”

The new 26000 tonne Polar Class auxillary ship HMNZS Aotearoa recently undertook RAS trials alongside the Philippine Navy's new 2600 tonne Frigate Jose Rizal off the coast of South Korea, which is also conducting sea trials. The Aotearoa has the capacity to replenish an Anzac class frigate nearly 14 times over, which reveals its intent as coalition asset more than as a tanker for a 2 frigate Navy. March 2021 commissioning date.

Anzac Day today.
Wishing all Irish service people, their families, both past and present a happy and safe ANZAC day wherever your service was done, what ever your unit is or was.
No Dawn Parade in NZ or OZ due to Covid 19 rules. However, in my coastal village we all went down to the beach at 0550 hours with lanterns and torches keeping to social distancing rules to pay our respects. Thought of my Irish-Kiwi grandfather who was 2nd Wellington Regiment, 1 (NZ) Brigade 1915-1919. Lest we forget.

The RNZAF Aircrew Training Capability project has been delivered with the last of the four KA350 aircraft to 42Sqd. The KA350's will train future AWO's for the P-3K/P-8A and also conduct maritime patrol around the EEZ as part of that training.

Could you not have got something other than a KA350 you know how some still haven't managed to let go!

To give NZ credit, the area it needs to cover would be the same as us having to patrol Iceland and the Arctic, and south as far as the Azores, and west 3/4 ways to Newfoundland.
They can have their KA350s. They can have their P8..... and the P3K..... and their frigates....For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.
