The colour appears to be grey/blue rather than green Is that the original colour? Also is the Vickers Machine Gun real, can it fire blanks as that would be spectular to see, Great to see some of our military heritage being preserved? Can the general public see it?

The grey is the original colour as were almost all Irish Army up to and during the Emergency.

          Hi all,
the Vickers Gun was new to the National Army, few were qualified to fire it, let alone service it and spares were scarce. My grandfather served in the Rolls-Royce cars and was once given a Lewis in place of a broken Vickers.
          regards

Possibly the best maintained version of this type in the world still in running order? I doubt the Bovington example has driven anywhere in years.

                  well done to all

Excellent restoration great to see it restored. Had a visit to the Curragh camp last year while the restoration was going on. Must be a great feel good factor for all to have been involved in the restoration of a vehicle known throughout the world. Well done to all who worked on both the Rolls & the Peerless.

At the time of the theft of the car in 1922, some newspapers reporting on the incident, refer to the car by the name “Slieve na mban” not Slievenamon.

The Rolls Royce armoured car in the Bovington camp museum in the UK is insured for “three million”.

Tom Keogh ARR 1 is up for sale for over “one million”

There is another Rolls Royce armoured car survivor in India that looks like it’s been patched up a couple of times in its history.

Once again well done to all,,,,,,

That is a serious set of medals ! I counted ELEVEN in total, notwithstanding the
possibility of multiple trips to the same mission

At least one of the Rolls-Royce's was also fitted with a Hotchkiss machine gun in the rear of the turret.

sorry to post off topic - but he seriously needs to sort his medals out, what an absolute mess.

                            beautiful car though.

The original spelling used was Slievenamon.
The names on the cars were later removed and sometime in the 1950s or 60s the Irish spelling Sliabh na mBan was added.
Slievenamon is a mountain in Co Tipperary.
